New-look Solihull Food & Harvest Festival coming to the town centre
There’s just over a week to go until the new-look Solihull Food & Harvest Festival, a three-day celebration of food, music and community in Solihull town centre.
Organised by Solihull BID, the Business Improvement District for the town centre, the Festival has evolved this year to incorporate a ‘Back British Farming’ theme with a Farmers Market alongside the much-loved Continental Street Market. The free family event runs from Friday 25th – Sunday 27th September.
The festival opens with Harvest Harmony on Friday, when 17 local choirs fill the town with song, building to a community singalong in the afternoon. Visitors are invited to bring food bank donations across the weekend to be distributed by the Colebridge Trust.
Saturday turns up the volume with live music from midday until 8pm, finishing the day with the popular ‘Rum & Reggae’ performances. You’ll also be able to enjoy street food along the High Street and Mill Lane, alfresco bars, and an all-new Farmers’ Market spread across indoor and outdoor Mell Square — packed with artisan bread, cheese, wine and more from the makers themselves.
Expect to see the likes of Becketts Farm, Corner Cottage Bakery, Hampton Manor, Loki Wine, Spirit of Birmingham and 20 other local producers showcasing their goods and services.
Sunday saddles up for the all-new Barn Dance Festival Day: free line dancing tuition, tribute acts of Shania Twain, Dolly Parton and The Wurzels and craft activities for kids.
Running all weekend, the Scarecrow Trail challenges visitors to spot scarecrows around town centre and vote for their favourite — with a chance to win a £100 Touchwood Gift Card. You’ll also get the chance to experience tasting sessions and exclusive demos at some of the town centre’s best hospitality businesses.
