Summer fun in Solihull town centre
With summer in full swing, there’s no shortage of ways to make the most of the sunshine in Solihull town centre. Whether you’re looking for family fun, creative activities for the kids, an unforgettable outdoor theatre performance, or the chance to browse and sample the best of our local markets, there’s plenty happening to keep all ages entertained this season.
Solihull Summerfest
The ultimate feel good festival returns to Tudor Grange Park on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 July. Line up includes Craig David, Gabrielle, Culture Club and JLS.
Grab tickets now for an epic festival experience filled with music, art, food, and unforgettable memories! Festival gates open at 11am both days and music is on from midday to 10.30pm.
Summer at the beach
Touchwood’s much-loved beach is back this summer, bringing a taste of the seaside to Theatre Square. Alongside the sandy beach, visitors can enjoy a packed programme of free entertainment, including a K-Pop Party, a spectacular Giant Bubbles Show, DJ Mark, and Jamaya’s BBQ & Beats.
So, grab your bucket and spade, gather the family, and soak up the summer vibes without leaving Solihull! The beach will be open daily from Saturday 18 July to Monday 31 August, from 10am to 4pm Monday to Saturday, and 11am to 4pm on Sundays. No tickets required – just turn up and join the fun!
The Core outdoor theatre
The Core outdoor theatre is coming to Brueton Park this summer and tickets are on sale now! Gather up your friends and family, pack a picnic, and bring along your own seat or blanket to enjoy some fantastic theatre shows performed in a scenic setting.
Performances include The Sword in the Stone on Saturday 25 July at 5pm, As you Like It on Wednesday 12 August at 6pm, and The Tales of Peter Rabbit on Saturday 22 August at 5pm.
Family shows and films at The Core Theatre
Dinosaur Adventure Live: Danger on T-Rex Mountain on Tuesday 28 July at 11.30am and 2pm, is an interactive, 60-minute family stage show. The narrative follows intrepid rangers on a quest to recover a lost data crystal, restore power to the island, and save the dinosaurs. The experience features life-sized, realistic dinosaurs, baby dinosaurs to feed, and a face-to-face encounter with a T-Rex!
Grab your popcorn and head to the Core Theatre for special cinema screenings of GOAT on Wednesday 29 July at 11am, and a magical Wicked Sing-Along on Wednesday 26 August at 10.30am.
Creative classes and workshops at The Core
Young singers can enjoy workshops on Thursday 30 July. Sing the Magic (ages 7–11) offers Disney-themed singing fun, while Pop Project (ages 11–16) lets participants learn popular songs and choreography in a relaxed, supportive setting.
Children can create, direct and star in their own film with our Young Filmmakers Workshops on Tuesday 4 to Thursday 6 August for 11-16 year olds, and Monday 10 August and Friday 21 August for 7-11 year olds.
Read to the Bhangra Beat on Friday 14 August is for kids aged 4-10 and their grown-ups to enjoy a storytime filled with song, dance, rhyme, bhangra music and street dance culture.
Play in a Day is a fun theatre workshop where young people can play games, learn acting skills and create a new play in a day with a professional theatre maker (Friday 14 August, ages 7–11; Wednesday 19 August, ages 11–16).
Try juggling, flower sticks, plate spinning and other circus skills before taking to the air in an aerial hoop at the Circus and Aerial Adventure Workshops on Monday 17 August. Workshops for those aged 7-11 and 11-16.
Get creative with coloured glass at our Glass Fusing Workshops on Friday 28 August. Ages 7–11 can make a glass suncatcher with their grown-up, while ages 11–16 can design and create their own fused glass piece to take home.
Solihull Pride
Solihull Pride is returning for 2026 on Saturday 8 August, bringing another vibrant celebration of inclusivity, diversity and community spirit to Solihull town centre. For more information see the SOLiHULL BiD website.
Easy Streat
On the second Thursday every month, Easy Streat brings some of the Midlands’ finest street food vendors to Mell Square. Serving up everything from much-loved classics to exciting new flavours, there is something for everyone.
The next event takes place on Thursday 13 August, from 11am until 8pm, with others on Thursday 10 September and Thursday 8 October.
Mell Square Market Week
Mell Square Market Week brings a new monthly opportunity for independent businesses to trade in the heart of the town centre. It runs for three days each month until October, from 10am until 4pm.
Each day has a dedicated theme, with artisan food and drink on Tuesdays, craft and collectibles on Wednesdays, and fashion, accessories and vintage on Thursdays. The next markets will run from 11-13 August, 15-17 September and 13-15 October.
Free activities in Mell Square
From gaming and DJ workshops to boxing, beauty sessions and coding, Mell Square has got a summer packed full of free activities for 13 to 17-year-olds. The workshops will run from 20 July until the end of August. View the full timetable of events.
Events at The Core Library
The Core Library will be running a range of free library activities throughout the summer holidays, including crafts and storytime. This year’s Summer Reading Challenge theme is ‘Read to the Beat’ – take the challenge and read books to earn stickers, a certificate and the chance to win some great prizes!
