Touchwood brings the Costa Del Sol to Solihull

Pack your buckets and spades as ‘Costa Del Solihull’ is back! Touchwood is setting up its very own beach once again this year, returning to its usual home of Theatre Square from Saturday 16th July until Sunday 4th September.

The beach is free to enter and will be open every day during Touchwood’s usual opening hours. Visitors are invited to come along to spend the day building sandcastles or soak up some sun in one of the many deckchairs post-shopping trip.

With a whole host of family activities and entertainment planned throughout July and August, the beach is set to be the summer destination for Solihull.

On opening day, Saturday 16th July, visitors will be treated to performances from the Solihull Jazz festival, with critically acclaimed Blues musician Ajay Srivastav playing alongside renowned tabla and Indian percussion player Vinod Kerai.

Touchwood’s ‘big summer beach party’ will take place on Saturday 23rd July, where there will be a live DJ, bubble machines, face painting and competitions for the kids.

To celebrate the Commonwealth Games coming to Birmingham, live action from the games will be broadcast directly to the beach on a giant screen for all to enjoy between 28th July and 8th August.

Lucy Burnett, Marketing Manager at Touchwood, comments: “With the Commonwealth Games in town, this summer is going to be one to remember, and we wanted to make it extra special here in Solihull. Along with our locally loved ‘Costa Del Solihull’ beach, set up for relaxing and watching the games, we have invited local sporting groups to The Atrium where they will showcase their sports and provide interactive activities for visitors to get involved.”

Throughout August, Touchwood is also partnering with the Magic Bean Coffee Shop, Solihull’s first not-for-profit wellbeing family café, to offer guests the chance to participate in planting events to help create a ‘magic bean garden’ in the centre. The events will be free but must be booked in advance online.
